fast-paced energetic set one and as noted the victim>foolish is hot, but so is the corrina outro into d/s... plus a good sugar mag... a lot more worthy
...
'95 shows than the uninformed drone-like followers of conventional wisdom realize :)

Seemed almost every show from '95 summer tour had one [sans that brutal night in NJ where Jerry's guitar was at zero volume on Unbroken Chain].... on this
...
night, as many have pointed out, it was the Victim>Jam>Foolish Heart..... my one observation from the tour is that the indoor shows had more energy than the outdoor shows [Morning Dew from Albany for example]. Which makes a ton of sense as my recollection was that I struggled in the summer heat [other than at the uber comfortable, weatherwise, High Gate]. And I was a reasonably fit 36 year old. Can't imagine being an overweight, diabetic, smack addict, with heart issues trying to deal with the heat..... Anyway, always flashes of brilliance.... even to in the final days.... off to Dead & Company tomorrow night.... and while it will be musically solid, it will never be the same.

I had a great time at that show with my brother. we grew up a stones through away from the palace, I remember when it was built. I have read some reviews
...
from this show, I must say a lot of hate out there, What happened to accepting an individuals point of view, with out others insulting you? One individual even stated that another individuals opinion should be striked from the record, and that the individuals opinion from the show was "stupid" and that person is an idiot? I though we were supposed to be opened minded and everyone has an opinion, which not everyone will like, but we should not insult others. Anyway, great show a lot of LSD! Jerry passed soon after. Later that year I saw Blind Melon at a great venue in Detroit, Singer for Blind Melon passed soon after. I was afraid to go to 311 concert same year (1995) in fear one of them might pass too.

This was my penultimate experience seeing the band live. We sat towards the back of the Palace and the sound could have been louder. Overall it wasn't
...
a bad show but the jam between Victim and Foolish was incredible!! The next night would be the last time I ever saw the maestro.

The Victim jam that transitions into a decent Foolish Heart is a reminder that even though Jerry's life force was fading away, the band could still summon

some of that magic for brief moments.

Victim>Foolish.
I cannot rate this show because when set against their body of work, only the Victim>Foolish would garner notice (okay, drums and space were cool, too).
It was time to say goodbye. Jerry must have known something we didn't...

This might have been some of the best playing all tour, the victim>foolish was 30 min! It was the void that you fear, my friend. Just because you
...
didn't recognize the beat or jam, doesn't mean it could have been completed by a student of the guitar. The many complex layers of Jerry's jamming might be what scared you the most. If you were bored, maybe you could have taken your lame energy elsewhere, maybe fish tour. Again, this might be the best victim>foolish ever, sans RFK '90.

If you read my review of 6/28/95, you'll know my dad and my sister were at these shows with me (I wrote that review first).
I ditched my them because ... i didnt want my dad to see what i was doin (partyin) at the shows, because i was all of 17, still living with my folks.
Anyhow, so I'm walkin around in the Palace parkin lot by myself, and I look over, and there are 3 of my younger high school buddies. And they are lookin for a place to pee! Heheheh, they dont realize that people pee everywhere on dead lot! :-)
The hardcore thing about this, is this was the only show those guys ever saw, and I thought it was one of the poorest shows I ever saw. Started strong, Greatest, Bertha, Minglewood are all nice.....
But Ramble I find to be so cheesy, Queen Jane boring except for that strong ending (Jerry's OOOOOH is well placed), Lazy is ok but eventless, then the Eternity seemed to last that long...Dont Ease was up but short and def not my fav set closer.
2nd set, ugh. That jam between Victim and Foolish some people like, but I just found myself wishing they would start Foolish. Thought Foolish was nice, especially the ending, but that was it for that show. Its All Too Much is actually really well played by Vince, but after that, there was nothing. Last time is ok, but standin is just not anywhere near what it used to be, and sugar mag was slow, and liberty i just walked out on.
The reason it hurts that it was the only show my younger buds saw is because one of them, my friend Matt, passed away soon after in a car accident. Here's to you buddy, it's been almost ten years, but you were a great friend!

Listening to this show for the first time since I was there brought back so many good vibes and memories. Both Palace shows were great. Not bad for an

aud. recording, some crowd noise, but I like that, makes me feel like I'm there again! Thanks for all the great music throughout the years!

Thanks for the indoor arena in an outdoor summer tour. Always like the aud sound, elusive and tired, but authentic to the reel.
Had fun in our hometown ... lot with all the gang and rock'd on with Jerry one last time, the final call of 1995

Jerry, typical for the last three years, was hopelessly lost more often than not - including all but a very brief stretch of the much-vaunted Victim-->Foolish

transition. Sounds much like a first-year guitar student attempting to solo. Painful and deeply sad to hear.

The highlight of this show for me is the scintillating jam between Victim > Foolish...great stuff. The remainder of the show is reasonably solid for

summer 95...these Palace shows had a pretty good vibe...the worst was yet to come...

I attended both shows and am finally happy to have them on CDR but I wish the sound quality was better. Not bad for AUDs though. I really haven't listened
...
to many other '95 shows but these two in Detroit seemed to be some of the best. Get the show not only for sentimental reasons but for the Victim>Foolish.....Wow!
